Good morning, High Point.

A report from the Winston-Salem Journal and News & Record found that 17 of 31 local companies in fiscal 2024 saw a larger gap between CEO pay and median worker earnings, with HanesBrands Inc.'s CEO Stephen Bratspies earning $1,893 for every $1 a worker made plus a heavy focus on stock awards and market changes contributing to the trend.

High Point police arrested two men and three teenagers after a stolen pickup ran a red light on Thursday around 12:30 a.m.—a dropped backpack led officers to two guns and an AR-style rifle near the 300 block of Arlington Street.

Guilford County Manager Michael Halford said the proposed budget allocates an extra $2.5M for schools and $11M for the sheriff’s office — a figure that is less than the board of education requested.

Officials will review the plan as part of future spending decisions.
