- ➤ On April 3, members of the Jamestown Business Association and guests took part in a business speed dating event at Kindred Coffee — participants paired off two-by-two to spark new connections and build potential client relationships, according to JBA President Victoria Jones. - ➤ A High Point officer saw a tow truck matching the stolen vehicle description around 9 p.m. on Saturday on North Main Street and later watched it turn into a parking lot on West Green Street—24-year-old Rachel Ricketts has been charged with multiple felonies after the truck was reported stolen from Raleigh. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Guilford County Schools unanimously approved its $947 million budget for the 2025-2026 school year that provides about $11 million for facility improvements, $3 million for school safety, $10 million for local teacher supplements and $15 million to raise the pay scale for classified staff; more than $46 million will be diverted for local charter schools. - ➤ School officials at Guilford County Schools asked for $314 million in county funding for next year when the board of education approved a budget proposal that calls for nearly $44 million to raise pay for teachers and classified staff—protesters had urged the board to secure fair wages amid staffing shortages.
