- ➤ The North Carolina Forest Service will lift the burn ban today at 8 a.m. after recent rains eased the hazardous conditions that led to restrictions on March 21 (wildfires still burn in several areas including three in Polk County), and officials remind residents to burn safely during spring wildfire season. - ➤ Cone Health has installed weapons detectors following an increase in hospital violence and assaults on nurses—experts say the new measure is intended to protect staff and patients. The installation is part of an ongoing effort to improve safety at the facility. WFMY News 2
