The Greater High Point Food Alliance launched the Fill the Gap campaign to raise funds for local food pantries as rising costs and a federal shutdown have increased food needs—SNAP benefits will be suspended on November 1 and a new website and app help people find free meals and volunteer opportunities.

Falling temperatures have prompted United Way of Greater High Point to launch its Gift of Warmth program that gives UL-rated space heaters to residents facing heating emergencies with a $25 donation.

Donations will be accepted now through January 31, 2026, and residents in High Point—Archdale, Trinity, and Jamestown must show valid ID to receive a heater.
