  • Kayla Lawson of Rockingham County said her family will use her paycheck when WIC and SNAP benefits expire—she warned that many Triad families may struggle to buy food and other essentials. State health officials are working to find options to keep the benefits if federal funds are not renewed—local food banks may help those in need.  WXII 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Guilford County Schools is introducing 10 propane-powered school buses for a cleaner and quieter ride on routes serving Dudley Schools. The buses, which hold up to 65 students each, promise lower maintenance costs + officials said they plan to expand the propane fleet to rural areas soon.  ABC45

FINANCE NEWS

  • Retired Hattie Hayes from Browns Summit discovered a $2,000 drop in her life insurance coverage even though her premiums stayed the same — her careful record keeping helped her notice the error. After she called News 2 following an 11 p.m. report, her insurer quickly restored her original policy.  WFMY News 2
