- ➤ Second Harvest Food Bank will spend $500,000 to buy meal boxes and meals to help families in its 18-county service area. The organization works with other food programs to ensure that families get the food they need. News & Record
- ➤ Haynes-Inman and C.J. Greene education centers will host a free Fall Festival on Oct. 25 at the Haynes-Inman Gymnasium at 200 Haynes Road in Jamestown from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—the event will feature games, fire trucks, face painting, food sales, a $1 raffle and student-made vendor items. At a short October meeting, the Jamestown Planning Board elected Hope Inge as chair and John Capes as vice-chair while introducing planning technician Gordon Holton, with a fence variance request scheduled for Nov. 10. - ➤ Today, UNCSA presents Choir Boy at Catawba Theatre— a coming-of-age musical story with gospel sounds by Oscar-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney that will run until Nov. 1. The production contains adult language and scenes, and tickets cost $28 for adults and $23 for students. WXII 12
- ➤ The Greensboro Science Center will become a winter wonderland on Nov 19—Winter Wonderlights will show over 1 million lights in its aquarium, museum, and zoo. Visitors can also see handmade paper lanterns inspired by animals in the Rainforest Biodome and Merry Mermaid Grotto. WXII 12
