- ➤ New import tariffs on furniture and lumber will take effect Tuesday, Oct. 14 and may push prices higher for local buyers as businesses work to keep costs down. The tariffs impose a 10% tax on softwood lumber and a 25% tax on upholstered furniture that will rise to 30% next year—raising concerns for manufacturers and retailers. WFMY News 2
