  • Pennybyrn held an open house at its new Melvin & Ruth Witcher Adult Day Center where program assistant Danita Turner led guests on a tour to preview upcoming services for adults; the center will open soon to support community members in need of day care services.  The High Point Enterprise

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Smith High School football players were charged with juvenile offenses—accused of punching a referee during a game on Sept. 12 in High Point.  WFMY News 2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • West Friendly Avenue is closed today due to a water main break + the city said the road will reopen after midnight.  WFMY News 2

HEALTH NEWS

  • A High Point police officer is fighting a rare form of bone cancer (support is needed) and a local cancer walk will raise funds to help with his treatment. Community organizers urge residents to join the effort (donation details to follow).  WFMY News 2

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A prospective buyer of a long-vacant office building in downtown High Point has cleared a state hurdle to rehabilitate the property.  The High Point Enterprise

SPORTS NEWS

  • On October 3rd, high school teams played in Week Seven matchups with the First National Bank Game of the Week featuring 5-1 Central Davidson — 3-2 Lexington. Other teams took part in Friday Football Fever games as local athletes competed in a busy schedule.  WFMY News 2
