Good morning, High Point.

A local rescue group in High Point is urging residents to adopt Haze, a pet who needs a forever home—neighbors are invited to help him find a loving family.

Camp Carefree, which offers a free one-week camping experience for kids ages 6 to 16 with chronic illnesses and disabilities, celebrated its 40th anniversary Saturday — the camp was founded in 1985 by Ann and Gibb Jones with the motto 'where kids can just be kids' and also helps siblings and children with sick parents.

Gov. Josh Stein authorized a standing order that lets High Point residents 65 and older and adults 18 to 64 with high-risk conditions get the 2026-26 COVID vaccine booster at local pharmacies without a prescription—aiming to cut red tape and ease confusion ahead of fall.

The order goes into effect immediately and applies at major chains like CVS and Walgreens.
