COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents and visitors in High Point and across the state can spend 15 minutes counting pollinators on flowering plants as part of the Great Southeast Pollinator Census active now; they must submit their counts online before Sept. 17 to help scientists track pollinator trends.  WXII 12

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Guilford is working on a project that could bring 420 new jobs and a $77M investment, as a legal notice filed Friday identified the company as Project McKinley — the step may boost local economic growth in the area.  News & Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Guilford County officials announced that Sonya Desai is the interim director of the Family Justice Center replacing Catherine Johnson who left for her new role at Alliance for HOPE International—Desai, who has worked at the center since 2015, will work with local partners to support abuse victims.  WFMY News 2

SPORTS NEWS

  • High Point Central football is rebuilding its program with strong community support as Coach Brent David—a local native—leads the effort to restart the junior varsity team and focus on each child's development. The community gathered today at Ilderton Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Fiat to launch Bison Pride, uniting roughly 40 players as they prepare to compete under Friday night lights.  ABC45
