ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters are investigating a fire at Culp Weaving Mill that was called in around 5 a.m. Tuesday as they work to determine its cause.  WFMY News 2

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The 12th annual Triad Minority and Women's Business Expo will be held on Saturday, August 23 at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem and is recognized as one of the top 10 events that helps minority and women-owned businesses. The expo will feature a Wealth Building & Empowerment Summit and an Awards Gala on Friday, August 22—showing workshops and panels—and will offer chances for local business owners to connect.  WXII 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The State Board of Elections said 1,926 Guilford and 1,803 Forsyth voters provided their driver’s license or Social Security info, while 6,081 Guilford and 3,473 Forsyth voters will receive letters this week to update their registration (the Registration Repair Project keeps voter rolls accurate). The board explained that corrections made to voter forms in January prompted the effort and that in future elections, in-person voters without updated info will cast provisional ballots (the letters include return envelopes and clear instructions).  News & Record
