- ➤ The Guilford Co. Animal Shelter reopened intake for healthy cats after quarantined feral cats tested negative for rabies. Two feral cats tested positive last month and several others were held back for 10 days—ensuring only safe cats are now available for adoption. News & Record

- ➤ Two months ago, a 23-year-old man from High Point drowned in a rip current while swimming with friends on the coast—his mother later spoke out about the tragedy. WFMY News 2

- ➤ Catherine Johnson, founding director of the Family Justice Center, will step down on Sept. 5 to lead Alliance for HOPE International & help survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
