COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Guilford Co. Animal Shelter reopened intake for healthy cats after quarantined feral cats tested negative for rabies. Two feral cats tested positive last month and several others were held back for 10 days—ensuring only safe cats are now available for adoption.  News & Record

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two months ago, a 23-year-old man from High Point drowned in a rip current while swimming with friends on the coast—his mother later spoke out about the tragedy.  WFMY News 2
  • A fox that attacked a person and a dog near High Point—north of the Hasty community in northeast Davidson County—tested positive for rabies last week.  The High Point Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • High Point University freshmen spent their first weekend on campus building 150 bikes for local children. The project, completed with community spirit+ dedication, surprised many families in the area.  The High Point Enterprise

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Catherine Johnson, founding director of the Family Justice Center, will step down on Sept. 5 to lead Alliance for HOPE International & help survivors of domestic and sexual violence. She has built the center since 2015 into a service hub in Greensboro and High Point that has reached over 100,000 people.  WFMY News 2
