- ➤ A pipe failure on Thursday in High Point caused an untreated wastewater spill that released about 12,480 gallons, with roughly 3,400 gallons reaching an unnamed tributary of the Uwharrie River near 1525 Bethel Drive—city officials said the Division of Water Quality was notified on Aug. 8 and is reviewing the incident.
