BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chef Keith Henning opened The Gathering Table Market and Bistro on July 17 at Furnitureland South in Jamestown with partner Patricia Cote to offer farm to table meals made with local ingredients. The remodeled dining area and outdoor patio serve shoppers and employees and a grand opening will be held later in August — bringing a fresh dining option at the furniture store.  YES! Weekly

CRIME NEWS

  • On Wednesday, deputies from the Guilford County Sheriff's Office arrested 3 people after executing a search warrant at 1109 Wilson Place in High Point—two suspects detained on felony drug charges will appear in court today while the third was released on a $500 bond for misdemeanor disorderly conduct.  WFMY News 2
  • Randolph County deputies arrested Zebediaz Robert Cox, 23, during an investigative stop near Randolph Church Road in Liberty because he was wanted in multiple states & he now faces over a dozen felony charges in North Carolina with court dates set in Alamance, Guilford, and Montgomery counties.  WXII 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Guilford County schools recommend parents sign up for 'Here Comes the Bus' to track the bus and remind students to wear bright clothing and stay 6 feet from the road during drop-off. Drivers must stop when a bus’s stop sign is out — failure to do so can result in a misdemeanor, a $500 fine, and five points on a driver’s license.  WXII 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Guilford County Health and Human Services building reopened today after a fallen tree caused a power outage on Tuesday—services have resumed at the facility.  News & Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • Participants in A Moment In Time are invited to enjoy watermelon-themed games, crafts and snacks at Jamestown United Methodist Church’s fellowship hall on August 19 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Shelby Kline of HealthTeam Advantage leads the event for people with dementia and their care partners — reservations are requested but not required.  YES!   • Guilford County health officials confirmed a fox found on Forbes Drive in Greensboro tested positive for rabies after being found on Aug. 4; this is the fifth confirmed case in 2025 and all domestic pets aged four months or older are required by law to be vaccinated.  WXII 12
