ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Kernersville teen suffered severe injuries when an impaired driver hit her car at a light on July 20 in Wilmington — she is in the ICU while her brother was released with minor injuries and the suspect now faces four charges, according to state highway patrol.  WXII 12

BUSINESS NEWS

  • State lawmakers approved JetZero's eligibility for up to $450 million in state incentives — funds that will help improve the site at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro. JetZero will begin building its plant in the first half of 2026 and expects test flights in 2027 with commercial service planned by 2030.  News & Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Wyndham Championship started this week in Greensboro drawing thousands of fans, players, and sponsors while boosting the local economy by an estimated $30—$40 million. The tournament will continue at Sedgefield Country Club through Sunday as hotels fill and broadcasts reach 1.3 billion households.  WFMY News 2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Josh Stein pressed lawmakers on Monday to compromise on a new budget that supports teachers, law enforcement and health care—legislators approved separate plans but have not agreed on a single spending bill. The current budget remains in place until the General Assembly reaches a new deal.  WXII 12

HEALTH NEWS

  • Authorities reported a second rabid cat was found in Jamestown on July 22, making it the fourth confirmed case in the county, and Guilford County Animal Services has stopped taking healthy cats to protect shelter residents + they urged pet owners to vaccinate their pets and report unusual behavior immediately.  YES!
