BUSINESS NEWS

  • For nearly two weeks, storms have disrupted business operations in the Piedmont Triad, with the High Point Rockers pausing 14 to 15 games and the Bryan YMCA delaying swim lessons and lifeguard training due to lightning concerns—local businesses now look to drier days to resume normal activities.  WFMY News 2

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gaurang Doshi—an adjunct professor at UNCG who teaches Indian music—was awarded the North Carolina Heritage Award earlier this month. He plays the sarod and is one of only two artists from Winston-Salem to earn the state's highest cultural honor.  News & Record

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local officials in the Triad have upgraded alert systems and staged road crews as heavy storms and flooding continue to threaten the area. Emergency managers in Guilford and Alamance Counties, along with DOT crews, use systems to send warnings and coordinate responses—residents are urged not to drive through standing water.  WFMY News 2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Guilford County Commissioners unanimously appointed Victor Isler as the new county manager, citing his 17 years of local government experience, and his role takes effect immediately with a starting salary of $315,000 — county officials expect he will strengthen local operations.  WXII 12
  • Guilford commissioners named Victor Isler interim county manager three weeks after Michael Halford abruptly retired from nearly 25 years of service. The appointment will serve until a permanent manager is selected — officials plan to review candidates soon.  News & Record
