EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Carolina public school educators may face layoffs because the federal government froze $165 million that districts needed for salaries, classroom supplies, and teacher training. The state is suing the federal government while officials say the halted funds — including nearly $20 million for local schools — leave districts scrambling to cover their expenses. WFMY News 2

- ➤ Lawmakers renewed the bipartisan film industry study committee for fiscal 2025—26 to study how to boost film and TV projects through the end of 2026. The panel includes Forsyth Rep. Kanika Brown and co-chairs Sens. Bob Brinson and Sophia Chitlik and will review film grants—job creation and economic benefits to support projects outside of Wilmington and Charlotte. News & Record
