  • During Fourth of July celebrations at Oak Hollow Lake, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission advised boaters to wear life jackets for everyone, carry a type IV throwable device, and have a fire extinguisher—Master Wildlife Officer Philip Griffin warned that boaters caught operating while impaired could face arrest and that operators born after January 1 must complete a safety course. The commission noted that increased boat traffic and high winds contributed to higher risks of preventable drowning incidents.  ABC45
