Kearns Academy held a graduation ceremony this week for the class of 2025—graduates celebrated the milestone in their academic journey.

Jen Miller, librarian at Northern Guilford Middle School, is using her social media platform—Meet Me In The Media Center—to launch a Book Return Game that clears lost book fees for students as the school year nears its end.

Her effort has received help from over 800,000 book lovers and boosted book circulation by 63% while she also opposes proposed changes in House Bill 636.

On May 30th, scattered storms moved into the Mountain and Foothills by 2 p.m. and continued east into the Piedmont Triad from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.—some storms were strong with wind gusts over 58 mph, large hail, and a slight 5% tornado risk while heavy rain caused flash flooding in some areas.

The Red Cross said High Point residents should prepare for an active hurricane season by building emergency kits with supplies for three to seven days—water, non-perishable foods, cash, and medication—and by making a plan.

The group also urged residents to stay alert as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts up to 19 named storms and as many as five may develop into major hurricanes.
