GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The N.C. House and Senate rejected proposals to raise the minimum wage above the federal $7.25 an hour rate, so minimum wage workers will not get a raise in 2026. The floor debates turned down amendments that would have increased wages gradually to $9, $10.50, $12 and $13.50—leaving the rate unchanged for the 17th consecutive year.  News & Record
