- ➤ Local fiber artist Crystal Hesser, known as Spin Up Girl, will showcase her handmade yarn creations and spinning techniques at Fiber Arts Day on June 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mendenhall Homeplace in Jamestown near City Lake Park—she will demonstrate the full process from cleaning to dyeing wool and offer skeins for sale. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, High Point Public Works Day featured a job fair and an excavator competition outside the High Point Public Library as staff from road, sanitation and water treatment departments showed their skills. The winning team will receive a 3D printed excavator model trophy — and represent the city in a national competition in Chicago in August. WXII 12
- ➤ High Point City Council approved rezoning and annexation cases this week to support plans for building a new Allen Jay Elementary School that will serve local students — officials say the decision paves the way for future construction. The High Point Enterprise
