  • Guilford County Schools will promote new leaders effective July 1, 2026, appointing Jennifer Cooper as principal supervisor, Maggie Dowling, Jennifer Vega-Prieto, Alexander Wertz, and Karen Williams-Dick as new principals at their respective schools, while four principals will transfer to different schools (the district is shifting leadership to strengthen performance).  ABC45

  • A North Carolina passenger linked to a cruise ship hantavirus case is in quarantine in Nebraska while health officials track potential exposures. The outbreak began when the ship left South America earlier this month — North Carolina reports only one confirmed case since 1995.  ABC45
