CRIME NEWS

  • William Rhew III from Summerfield pleaded guilty on Tuesday to charges including wire fraud, money laundering, securities fraud and tax crimes in a Ponzi scheme that defrauded 117 investors of at least $24 million+ misused for personal expenses, and he is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 22nd.  WXII 12

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in High Point will need to prepare for high winds as hurricane season will begin June 1 — meteorologist Brian Slocum advises trimming trees, repairing loose siding, and securing outdoor objects to reduce damage. Locals should monitor weather updates and follow official instructions when tropical storm or hurricane warnings are issued.  WXII 12

  • Debbie Dawson competed in the shot put event at the annual High Point Senior Games held at the High Point Athletic Complex in the 70 to 74 age group. Many local seniors joined the competition to show their skills in this long-standing event.  The High Point Enterprise
