- ➤ High Point firefighters said two team members nearly died in a house fire when non-working smoke alarms failed to operate—prompting the union to stress the need for regular safety checks in homes. WFMY News 2
- ➤ Contractors working for Duke Energy were involved in a deadly crash in Eden on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Church Street and Carroll Street — the Rockingham County Government reported fatalities and Duke Energy said it is working with law enforcement to investigate the incident.
