  • Big Lots reopened its Asheboro store on East Dixie Drive on April 10 after filing for Chapter 11 in September, and new owner Variety Wholesalers is planning remodels and additional re-openings in May and June. The Greensboro store on Battleground Avenue will remain open under new management—continuing to serve shoppers in the Triad.  WFMY News 2

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials in 17 states have warned drivers to check their cars for spotted lanternfly eggs—these insects hurt crops, grapevines, fruit trees, and hardwood trees while often bringing stinging insects and mold to properties. The North Carolina State Extension advises washing vehicles and destroying any egg masses with hand sanitizer in a plastic bag to help stop the pest from spreading.  WXII 12
