- ➤ The Lyrid meteor shower began April 16 and will last until April 26, with peak activity expected Monday, April 21 for local stargazers. Experts advise viewers to find dark areas away from city lights — clouds, a bright gibbous moon and rain may lower the number of visible meteors. WXII 12
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported that flu-related deaths have reached 515 this season and noted 12 new deaths last week. Most of the deaths were among people 65 and older—367 deaths—with 100 in those aged 50-64, 41 in the 25-49 group, 2 in the 18-24 group, and 5 in children. ABC45
