Good morning, High Point.

Netflix drama 'Six Triple Eight' featured the World War II service of Sgt. Annie Elizabeth Leach Johnson from High Point who led Black women to clear a mail backlog overseas and inspired local historian Glenn Chavis to work with City officials to honor her legacy.

Pages about her service were briefly removed from the Department of Defense website as part of an executive order—pages that were later restored after criticism.

A House bill sponsored by Rep. Tricia Cotham will require public and charter schools to offer part-time classes to private and religious students and provide $270 million each year starting with the 2025-26 school year—details on the number and type of classes are not specified.
