ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded on Saturday shortly after 4 a.m. at the 1000 block of Porter Street—finding a building and a vehicle on fire—and contained the flames without injuries, while the fire remains under investigation. ABC45
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Guilford County Sheriff's Office charged 37-year-old Lisa Marie Vanhoogen with felony involuntary manslaughter after investigators linked her to the death of 40-year-old Andrea Marie Vergowven at Moose Cafe in Colfax two years ago—Vanhoogen was arrested on April 4 when multiple drugs were found to have caused the death. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers introduced House Bill 21 to help drivers with autism by asking the DMV to create a statewide database linked to driver licenses and to require police training for traffic stops. The bill passed unanimously in the House and if signed it will go into effect January 1, 2026. WXII 12
