- ➤ Extra Special People, a Georgia-based nonprofit, opened its first High Point facility yesterday at Stock and Grain Food Hall to support children with disabilities. The new center offers expert care, family resources and employment pathways and CEO Laura Hope Whitaker said proceeds from her book will fund the nonprofit. ABC45
- ➤ A large crowd attended Community Medical Day last Saturday at VFW 5352, hosted by Passion Church. The event drew many local residents who came to benefit from the free medical services offered. The High Point Enterprise
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ A technology company that makes AI and data center tools announced plans Thursday for a new manufacturing plant in western Guilford, which is expected to add jobs and boost local growth. The High Point Enterprise
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Girl Scout Troop 2876’s Julia Gladstone from Guilford County earned the Gold Award for her project Care Through Coloring. The project created a website with free coloring pages by local high school art students to help ease stress for pediatric patients and their families at local hospitals. YES! Weekly
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ High Point Police Department said Detective David Rosser died earlier this week after a medical emergency. The 42-year-old served the community for nearly 20 years (he was also a bagpiper in the Honor Guard) and will be remembered for his dedication. WXII 12
