  • Duke Energy is evaluating two Triad sites along the Yadkin River for natural gas-powered units, with each tract covering over 1,600 acres. The company will decide soon if the properties can support a new energy project in our area.  News & Record

  • Grammy Award-winning vocalist Ledisi will headline the Coltrane festival in High Point this fall — she launched the theatre’s 50th-anniversary season last September.  The High Point Enterprise

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Prepac Manufacturing will close its Whitsett facility on May 2, laying off about 200 employees after naming it a key hub last year. The company said high domestic production costs & global competition forced the decision while state and county officials assess potential implications for incentive reimbursements.  WFMY News 2
  • Triad's population growth slowed slightly due to sharply reduced immigration in the first half of 2025. Forsyth and Guilford counties saw slower than expected growth although overall increases remain strong.  The High Point Enterprise
