ECONOMY NEWS

  • As cold weather grips the region, Duke Energy advises residents to take steps to control potentially higher energy bills. The utility recommends accessing low-income assistance + free home energy checks to help manage rising costs.  ABC45

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • WFMY News 2's Lauren Tear reported that 550 pigeons were rescued in Guilford County (which includes High Point) earlier, drawing local attention to wildlife care.  WFMY News 2

HEALTH NEWS

  • Winter storms across the Midwest, South, and East canceled over 500 blood drives, worsening the American Red Cross's supply shortage. In High Point, the Rockers rescheduled their quarterly drive and Lewisville is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday (Feb. 11) to meet urgent demand.  WXII 12
