  • Monks walking for peace are making their way from High Point to Greensboro today. The group aims to spread unity as they pass through local neighborhoods.  News & Record
  • Foothills Brewing has rescheduled its annual chili cook-off as a winter storm is forecast in the Triad this weekend & organizers will announce a new date soon.  WFMY News 2
  • About six monks are on a 2,300-mile walk for peace, having left Fort Worth on Oct. 26 and now passing through our Piedmont Triad; they plan to reach Washington, D.C. on Feb. 11 and recently reunited in Charlotte with Aloka+ a dog recovering from surgery.  WXII 12

  • Local author Linda Willard will speak at tomorrow’s High Point Historical Society meeting at 10 a.m. where she will explore the lives of Quaker abolitionists in a program designed to enlighten community history.  The High Point Enterprise

  • High Point University honored MLK Monday, Jan. 19 with service projects and a community breakfast hosted at the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena Conference Center — students and staff then packed meals and repainted classrooms at High Point Central High School.  WXII 12
