On Sunday in Lexington, Buddhist monks held their Walk for Peace, sharing a message of unity and compassion that resonated with hundreds.

They will travel to High Point and Greensboro on Monday to further promote love and understanding in the community.

Buddhist monks, along with their dog Aloka, started their 2,300-mile Walk for Peace in Linwood and are moving toward Lexington and Thomasville with a police escort and meal support from the Lexington Cambodian Community Center; they are expected to reach Guilford County today.

Parkdale Mills will close in March due to rising energy costs — a move driven by an unsustainable business model, the company said.

The announcement follows years of operation in the community.
