- ➤ High Point is building a new senior center that will offer multiple services for older adults and the public when it opens — construction is on schedule. The High Point Enterprise
- ➤ Firefighters rescued a stray cat stuck on top of a building with a Doritos bag covering its head at a new construction site in Guilford County; the cat (dubbed Battalion Chief Dorito) is safe at the shelter and will be listed for adoption soon. WXII 12
- ➤ The Oakwood Day Center in High Point now acts as a warming center on freezing nights while offering hot meals, showers, haircuts+ and computer access for those in need. Founded by Bishop Kevin Sanders and his wife, Ericka, it welcomes women with children and single women when shelters are full. WXII 12
