ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new interchange has opened near the Toyota battery plant to help drivers reach the site as the plant plans to grow its workforce to 5,000 employees. The improved road connection is expected to support local business activity.  WFMY News 2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Josh Stein visited Machine Specialties, Inc. on Monday in Whitsett to celebrate North Carolina ranking first in workforce growth in 2025. He said plans to boost the economy in 2026 include several large Triad projects expected to create thousands of jobs across the state.  WFMY News 2

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Construction is underway on a new mixed-use project in downtown High Point at 211 N. Lindsay St — the complex will include a restaurant and entertainment venue when completed.  The High Point Enterprise

SPORTS NEWS

  • Panthers fans in the Triad are excited as the team makes its first playoff run since 2017 with a wild card game scheduled for this Saturday in Charlotte. Superfan ‘The Mad Cattah’ and local supporters are gathering at sports bars and venues, showing renewed local pride + unity.  WXII 12
  • Two local sports figures, former world champion speedskater Heather Richardson Bergsma and soccer standout Eddie Pope, were named to the N.C. Sports Hall of Fame. Their induction highlights their community roots and lasting impact on local sports.  The High Point Enterprise
